Our Town

The historic town of Dundas , fondly called the “Valley Town” is one of the most beautiful in Southern Ontario.  Nestled in a valley surrounded by the Niagara Escarpment, hikers have easy access to the Bruce Trail and six wonderful conservation areas. Fine old buildings define the downtown core, hosting cozy shops and amazing “foodie” establishments. Picone’s, an Italian food specialty shop with award-winning oils, pasta, vegetables and homemade delicacies, and The Horn of Plenty, a renown whole food store housed in the original town movie theatre, are just two examples of must-visit culinary shops.  These live alongside charming clothing, garden and other specialty stores. Don’t miss an opportunity to see The Keeping Room , a fabulous kitchen store located in the stable that once housed the Grafton’s Dry Goods wagons and horses in the early 1900’s.

A trip to Dundas is not complete without a trip to The Carnegie Gallery, the cornerstone of the arts community, showcasing the passion and talents of local artists and artisans.  Complete your visit with afternoon tea, wine on the patio, homemade ice cream, freshly roasted coffee, or a quiet lunch in one of the arrays of interesting places to eat.  Or take a picnic up to Webster’s Falls, and stroll along quiet paths to catch the stunning view from the edge of the escarpment.  It will be a day not to be missed.  The Valley Town is beautiful at any time of year but be sure to visit the weekend before Thanksgiving when the trees have started to turn, the historic houses are surrounded by fall gardens and there is excitement in the air.  Join “The Tour” and see for yourself what all the talk is about.  Visit any of our many community sponsors (For a list and more information, please see the “ Friends ” page  or download a brochure.)

We look forward to welcoming you to Dundas, Ontario!
